Dec 2nd: Gifts from yesteryear at SemiDomesticated!
The second day of The Refinement Club’s Advent calendar features Anette K Hansen & Deidre Ritsche with their idea about upcycling. SemiDomesticated’s focus is on high-quality crafts and mindful, innovative reuse. Through promoting and producing alternatives to mass-produced consumer goods, we wish to draw attention to the importance of reuse and conservation of resources. SemiDomesticated displays how reuse and ethical fashion/ design doesn’t have to be hippie hemp clothing or poorly put together scraps from the trash
Idea:
SemiDomesticated is operated by female-duo Anette K Hansen and Deidre Ritsche and is a curated design, vintage and craft boutique and gallery for fashion, furniture and accessories, in Kreuzberg Berlin. Anette (Norway) is a graphic designer by trade and a passionate furniture up-cycler. Deidre Ritsche (Canada) specializes in communications and is a collector of vintage clothing and accessories.We also run a blog that is updated weekly with news, inspirations, things we find note-worthy and a more in-depth look at our featured designers.
SemiDomesticated is also a network and a platform through which we can make and promote our own work as well as the work of other designers, crafters, collectors and upcyclers. It is a place where we can involve the community through various events and draw attention to the importance and beauty of ethical and sustainable consumption while promoting like-minded creatives.
Through the regular Show & Sell events we will feature an ever-changing variety of designers and creatives, depending on the theme of the specific event. Some will also involve musicians and other types of visual artists. Furthermore we plan to host talks, workshops, clothing swaps and other types of events as we move along.
We are having our first Show & Sell event on December 4th from 10:00 to 23:00 in our small basement boutique & gallery on Manteuffelstraße 57 in Kreuzberg. The event will feature a selection of vintage and upcycled fashion, furniture and accessories by:
Retusj, Tata Christiane, ghost-gum, Mika Modiggård, A&Ré, mon bibi and our two house brands, Made by K and Dandee Vintage.
There will be a special live music performance by Prince of Assyria, as well as a selection of drinks and snacks.
