Dec 7th: Bike away cars and pollution

The seventh day of The Refinement Club’s Advent calendar features Helge Svendsen’s idea on how to encourage people to use the bike even more.

Problem:
It’s no secret that many cities has too many cars. Cars contribute to increased pollution and bad health (because of the lack of psychical movement due to excessive use of cars). The world’s governments have tried to decrease the use of the car for decades, without success, and the population complains about the increased pollution.

Idea:
We give people the possibility to decrease pollution and make their city a better place. Combining bicycle dynamos and USB technology, we create dynamos and a system that register how far you’ve cycled, and for each mile/km you cycle, the government gives a small amount of money to your charity of choice or your personal project (such as more playgrounds, skate parks etc).
