Dec 12th: Translating value on the go!
The twelfth day of The Refinement Club’s Advent calendar features Åsmund Gravem’s genius browser plugin idea. Enjoy!
My name is Åsmund Gravem and I am an Art Director from Westredals. I love technology, cool ideas and learning new stuff that i hope to use to save the world, so every day I browse articles on the web, and most of the time when i read articles containing currency, length weight or other numerical details, I find my self googling for the conversion rates to my local standard and numeric systems. I find this action tedious and stops my reading flow. This isn’t really a big problem and therefore the solution is quite simple.
The thing we need is a plug-inn to your browser that recognizes values in the text on a webpage. And based on your personal preferences it translates values to a format that you are familiar with. I.e. translating imperial miles to metric kilometers.

Finally all the fuzzy numbers about inches, miles pr gallon and those strange recipe values like cups and oz. will be a thing of the past.
