The 80/20 School

Hi, as we mentioned last week we worked on the brief from No Right Brain Left Behind with Åsmund Gravem. What we came up with is something we call The 80/20 School, inspired by companies like Google.

The idea:

  • Leveraging the students’ own interests and allowing them to use the knowledge they obtain at school to make interesting projects.
  • Distributing 80% of school time to curricular activities and 20% to personal projects.
  • An online platform with a project- and resource database makes sure students and teachers can make good use of that time. The platform works as a tool and a network to further engage students to be innovative and to challenge themselves and each other.
  • Inspiring them to learn on basis of what they want to accomplish, not to accomplish on basis of what they have learnt.
